The Ministry of Extraordinary Means is, in the classic fashion, a shadowy government department that does not exist. Answerable directly to the Crown and independent of the Houses of Parliament, the Ministry investigates and contains supernatural threats and assets in Great Britain. Instituted by royal decree in the early 1700s, the Ministry originally operated in Ireland also, but after a period of great internal tension post-independence was succeeded there by an Irish independent body.

The current Minister for Extraordinary Means is Caroline Emry.
